The 12 BEST THINGS
TO BRING TO A
BOUDOIR PHOTOSHOOT
Preparation is essential
In boudoir, photography preparation is essential to getting a great result, so before your session, it is important to set boundaries.
The most important thing is that you are feeling comfortable and relaxed
We are often asked what are the best things to wear for your boudoir photo shoot. Well 1st off let me say there are many great items you can choose right out of your own wardrobe collection. Not every item needs to be lingerie. Choose at least one bra and knickers set. Be sure to try on items to make sure they have a proper fit and are not damaged before your session. If you are like my wife you will still have some lingerie from years ago that you just have not thrown out because it is still perfectly good…however, since I have not worn it since 2001 it may not fit you now. haha!
1: THINK VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE
From simple bra and knickers sets to strappy and complicated to put on by yourself corsets. The more variety you bring, the more portrait choices you will have.
BRA TIP: If you are a B or smaller find a bra that has lace around the top of the cup. It will make you look a whole size bigger in photos. If you can’t find one? You can sew some lace in yourself, this is a great tip for shots taken when you’re on your back.
2: SOMETHING OF HIS
Bring something that belongs to your man. One of his button-up long-sleeve shirts and/or his tie. If you or your other half are sports fans wear a sports top with some knee-high socks. Tip: You could even take it a step further and order his favourite team top with your name on it or saying something sexy. Be creative. The more effort you put into it, the more he will be amazed and love you for it!…
3: ALWAYS THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
Have fun with your choice of outfits and jewellery – of course, don’t forget the jewelry! You can choose bright colours but not fluorescent ones. Go super wild by wearing a mismatched bra and knickers. Wear your favourite pair of boots and a hat or if you think your guy would love you in a police officer's outfit – go for it! We’ve had ladies bring fireman and sailor’s outfits in, both successful ideas. Try out something totally off the wall and fun! It can make for a fun and creative photo.
4: WHAT'S IN YOUR WARDROBE
Look through your wardrobe for a see-through or lace blouse, a soft sweater you can pull off your shoulders, a vest, or a sleeveless sweater. Any unique or cropped tops can be cute with knickers too. TIP: try it on! don't just pack it for the shoot
5: ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS
Bustiers are a great way to create curves and enhance cleavage. If you are smaller than a C cup be sure to bring the kind of bustier that has built-in cups. (usually, a corset does not have cups but I have seen a few bustiers without cups too) The corsets and bustiers without cups can make you look flat-chested but there are lots we can do with both so don’t worry!
6: SPY SEXY
A trench coat with sexy high heels can be oh-so mysterious! Don’t forget to look through your coat collection as fur coats and jackets work too! You know he fantasises about you showing up to his office in nothing but a coat and heels all while he pretends to be James Bond. Oh wait, that was our fantasy, I was in a dinner suit and Sally in a black full-length sexy seethrough nighty, I was James Bond for years until the kids turned up!… That brings me to a point worth mentioning, all our wall portraits are guaranteed for LIFE! check out our 100% guarantee.
7: STAY TRENDY
This year rompers are all the rage and are not only cute but can be super sexy. If you do not already own one be sure to purchase one for your shoot.
8: THEMES or STYLE
PinUp’s, the 1940s–1950s are all great ideas for themes and costumes are always welcome, boudoir is not just underwear or bust! he he
9: LEGS, LEGS, AND MORE LEGS
If you bring stockings, please color match to your outfit (don’t forget them, you will need them) Almost every woman brings fishnets and/or thigh highs to her session. My number one suggestion is if you plan to wear them with a garter belt, buy the kind without the plastic stay-ups. If you plan to not wear a garter then plastic stay-ups are a must. TIP: Garters can be a sexy little add-on to any knicker and bra set.
10: THINK COLORS, RED IS THE NEW BLACK
Many women come to their shoot with almost all black lingerie…snooze…Bring color!! The more variety the better. (NOT FLUORESCENTS ) White or Red is always pretty damn hot.
11: MAKE BOLD STATEMENTS
Don’t forget jewelry, like a diamond choker or a statement necklace can be cool for a few images, and Bring a few choices in earrings and rings as well. Long necklaces make for great props and short colorful pieces can add drama. Always match outfits and/or colors.
12: THREE INCHES OR MORE
And most of all don’t forget to bring some killer high heels! Nude heels can go with many outfit choices. Black heels are a staple. However, anything strappy, studded, or with bling is a must-bring. The higher the better. Don’t go mad and try to stay away from platforms and wedges for your shoot. TIP: It’s surprising how often the underneath of a shoe shows up in images so try to bring shoes with unscuffed undersides. TIP 2: You can always take the back, hint, hint, wink, wink….
A few words from my friends

I was nervous before I came to this shoot, But Dean made me feel comfortable and relaxed. We talked beforehand about what we wanted to and the day flowed smoothly. When I came to review my shoot photographs, I was over the moon with the results.
I would highly recommend Dean and will be passing his name on to others.

Dean and Sally made me feel totally relaxed throughout my photo shoot. Despite my anxieties about ‘exposing’ myself in front of strangers, they were professional, friendly and reassuring. The resulting photographs are amazing and I’ve bought them all! All in all, really, really good fun. A fantastic experience and a great Christmas present for my husband.
